A list of series and stories that have specially touched me and deserve their spot here,
as creations that have shaped my growth.

Soukyuu no Fafner —

An anime by Xebec and character designs from Hisashi Hirai that begun running in 2004 with its first season, Dead Aggressor, later followed by two movies, another season, a series of episodes released as movies and a special episode. The franchise deals with themes such as belonging, the sense of community, identity, existentialism, mortality and understanding and leaning on one another, among others. It stands out to me as a very touching story about connecting with others and creating a place to call home. The vocal songs, by angela, are perfect for the series.

Tsukihime —

Tsukihime first came out in the year 2000, and is one of the earliest works of TYPE-MOON's Kinoko Nasu and Takeuchi Takashi. Although a remake is being developed, the games are very different and the remake is incomplete as of now, having not adapted all the routes. The original release is the one I recommend the most, although the remake is of really high quality (playing it after the original is recommended). Tsukihime handles a lot of difficult topics in a very raw way, which makes it really impactful for me. Procceed with caution as there are plenty of triggering topics portrayed.

Baroque —

Although Baroque has several titles, with Sega Saturn, PS1, PS2 and Wii releases, the one I recommend the most are the Saturn and PS1 ones (1998 and 1999), which keep to the original story, directed and written by Kazunari Yonemitsu and developed by the company Sting. Baroque deals with topics like disability, the outcast, survivor's guilt, existentialism, identity and many others. The site Nerve Tower is the best source to read about the original release and has translations of other Baroque material.
